Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is this online stopwatch?

This stopwatch is accurate to the second, making it ideal for general time tracking purposes. The timing is based on your computer's internal clock.

Does the stopwatch continue to run if I close the browser tab?

No. Since the stopwatch runs entirely within your browser using JavaScript, closing the tab or the browser will stop the timer and reset its state. It must remain open to keep time.

What is the difference between "Lap" and "Reset"?

"Lap" records a specific point in time without stopping the timer. "Reset" will record one final lap based on the paused time, and then set the timer back to zero. It does not clear your previously recorded lap data. You can use the "Clear Data" button for that.

What do the "Lap Time" and "Elapsed Time" columns mean?

Elapsed Time is the total time that has passed since you first clicked the "Start" button. Lap Time is the duration for that specific segment only (i.e., the time passed since the previous lap was recorded).

Can I export the lap data?

Currently, there is no direct "Export to file" button. However, you can easily select the data in the table with your mouse, copy it (Ctrl+C or Cmd+C), and paste it into any spreadsheet application like Excel, Google Sheets, or a simple text file.

Does this tool work on mobile phones?

Yes, absolutely. The tool is designed to be fully responsive and will adapt to fit the screen of any device, including desktops, tablets, and mobile phones, without losing functionality.

Why did my time disappear when I refreshed the page?

The stopwatch operates within your browser's temporary memory. Refreshing or navigating away from the page will reload the tool from its initial state, which clears any running time and recorded lap data. This is a privacy feature, ensuring no data is stored without your action.

Is there a limit to how many laps I can record?

There is no hard-coded limit to the number of laps you can record. You can record as many as you need. However, for an extremely large number of laps (many thousands), performance may vary depending on your browser and computer capabilities.
